THis is my 1979 Yamaha XS650 Special project. Soon to have mew mufflers, new Superbike bend handlebars, K&N-style filters, rear springs and shocks, fork seals, air caps, and steering bearings. When I got it, it barely idled on one cylinder, the brakes were seized, the throttle cable and the clutch cable were broken, it needed a new front tire and battery, and the mirrors were cracked. Now it runs pretty well except for backfiring like crazy (perhaps because of large holes in the mufflers), and I have replaced said cables and mirrors, tire and battery. I had to take the carbs off and totally clean them out - they were all plugged up with junk. It had been sitting outside for several years before I got it, but it was free, so I'm more than happy with it! (thanks Scott!) It's also missing its starter button, but the starter actually works fine, I think. Whatever - the kickstarter is fine. It has 26,000 miles on it and will soon have many more, hopefully. It's got a pretty nice aftermarket seat and sissy bar on it that may look silly, but they're nice, especially when carrying a passenger.
